So, the first Evo Tack Event of 2015 took place last Friday, 15th May, at The Bedford Autodrome Track. What an event it was! Full of thrills, fast paced driving, exhilarating corners, great conversation and good company. Many fellow car lovers all joining together in the same place to live out their passions for a few hours on the track.

Safely Insured are sponsoring the Evo Track Events via Evo Magazine throughout 2015. The events are a great day out for all you avid car fans. We’re hosting the competition to win track day tickets for the upcoming events in July and October of 2015. The tickets are to take your own car on the track so if you like the idea then you can enter the competition here.

Evo Track Event – May 2015

The day itself was widely enjoyed and was an experience relished by all. Not only did people drive their own cars on the track, they got to meet the staff at The Bedford Autodrome, the staff and drivers at Evo Magazine and of course us, here at Safely Insured. Conversation meandering around the topic of cars was contagious throughout the event and the bonnets of many vehicles were up, ready for inspection from their fellow admirers.

There were a variety of cars on the track that day. Some of the cars included a Porshce 911 Turbo, Porsche GT3, Mercedes SLS AMG and a Renaultsport Megane R26R.

 

The winner of the May 2015 Evo Track Event was Ross Culver who brought along his impecable Porsche 911 Turbo.

 

Our Marketing Manager, Paul Daly, got the chance to go out in Ross’ Porsche 911 Turbo with him. This is Paul’s account of the experience:

“I was not anticipating going out in a car on the track at all, I was just chatting to Ross and he suggested to go, so I thought why not? (If I had thought about it any longer, I probably would have said no)

Two minuters later we were on the track, doing 150mph on the straights. I thought the experience was both exhilarating and fast paced. We were getting very close to Nick Trott from Evo Magazine in his Porsche GT3, which made the nerves a little hairy, I was gripping the door handles slightly tighter than normal.

What I found amazing was the control of the Porsche around the corners. Ross explained that due to the engine being in the back you drive the car differently and the weight distribution meant the car had a better grip. I’d love to one day be able to match Ross’ skill of driving.

I would definitely do the experience again, given the chance. I would highly recommend it to anyone for a good day out.”

 

In addition to Ross Culver and his Porsche 911 Turbo, our sales advisor, Aimee Lombard, also took her car on the track. Aimee’s car is a Ford Fiesta Zetec S Celebration.
