Japfest 2017 – An Amazing Day of Japanese Cars

Japfest 2017 lived up to the hype this Sunday, as thousands gathered at Silverstone to witness what must be one of the largest collections of Japanese cars on display in one place ever!

With row upon row of Japanese car clubs lined up representing every make and model of our favourite cars. GTR Owners Club, MKIV Supra Owners Club, Civic Type R Owners Club, S15 Owners Club, Skyline Owners Forum and many others.

Japfest 2017 Supra

Out on the Silverstone track, the Japfest crowds were treated to a Drift Kings event. With the likes of Driftworks pushing their drifting skills to the limit – so much so that their DW86 had to withdraw from the final round after the warm up with a snapped shaft. It was an impressive spectacle to see such skillful drivers in action close by.

Fast Car Magazine & Banzai Magazine Paddock

Safely Insured were sponsoring the Fast Car Magazine / Banzai paddock at Japfest 2017, which included ten of our customer cars proudly being on display and generating a lot of interest from the Japanese car fans. Our customer cars covered a range of different types, from George Maggs’ more retro Toyota AE86 Trueno, some very impressive Supra’s and Skyline GT-R’s – and always attracting a lot of photos at car shows, Amy Slade’s ‘Datsun Sora Blue’ 350z.

Personally, I loved the ‘retro’ Japanese cars display, some amazing looking classic Japanese cars still in such fantastic condition. You can really tell the love & care the owners put into these beautiful vehicles.

It was great to meet so many car enthusiasts on a day when the sun just about won the weather battle, although you needed an extra layer to deal with the wind whilst watching the cars on the track from the banks. Thanks to all the organisers, Fast Car & Banzai – and a special thanks to our customers who came down and shared their cars with us all for the day.

Bring on Japfest 2!!
