Liam’s modified Nissan Skyline R34 GTR (2001) presents itself in the gorgeous Bayside blue colour. It’s got beautiful power to match the beautiful exterior also, with 450BHP at 1.1 bar. Likewise, it has a 2.6 litre engine which adds power when it’s due!

Shall we check out all of its modifications, before hearing all the insights Liam gave us into his very own car world? Oh, go on then…

Tell us a bit about yourself…

“I have always been interested in performance cars. From a young age, I would play video games like: Grand Tourismo, Colin Mcrae, and play in all arcade simulators. Like most people, the start of the Fast and Furious franchise was something that sparked more interest for me. My brother is a car enthusiast also and is older than me. He always had nice cars whilst I was growing up which I became rather passionate about – he always had performance cars.

My first ever car was a black Corsa C SXI which I purchased from my sister. It wasn’t the most interesting of cars but it was a good car to learn in.

If money was no object, I would buy my R34 GTR again – it is my dream car so I am proud to say that I own it. However, I do have a soft-spot for the Porsche 997 GT3 RS. Oh, and a Ferrari F40 – they are so raw and great driving cars. I could probably go on forever about what I would want, but at the moment, I really like these.”

What plans do you have for your current car?

“I plan to modify it further because the Nismo ECU cannot be unlocked (as far as I know). I plan to change the ECU to ‘Linksys setup’ and change the down pipes to Titanium. As soon as I check what turbos the car currently has, that will dictate which path I go down on that front. I would consider a single turbo setup, but that’s something that I am going to be looking into in the near future. I will most likely add some more carbon fibre parts as well – I really want a Nismo carbon bonnet also. With all this being said, at the moment, the car is absolutely perfect and drives great. I actually plan to build a project car soon, so maybe I will focus on that more and leave the skyline how it is for some time.

In terms of the modification work, my friends and I are trying to do a lot of the work on our own – we’re still trying to learn as much as we can. In the near future, I hope to have my own unit space so me and the guys can work on the cars in an area of decent size. In terms of other garages, I would only ever use JMimports or TheGtrshop to do any work on my skyline.

My friends and I also run a YouTube channel. We film: working on our cars, feature cars, and general car vlog videos. In addition, you can check us out on Facebook.”

Are you attending any car shows in 2017?

“I’ve had a bit of a busy year with other commitments, but I would like to go to Japfest and I hope to attend 10 of the best. Most of my friends don’t just have Japanese cars, so it could be hard to please everyone!”

What advice would you give to someone who wants to modify their car for the first time?

“Take your time and research what you are looking to do – make sure it is exactly what you want. It doesn’t hurt to ask someone with more experience for an opinion or advice. I have made some mistakes in the past when it came to modding which I did in some ways regret, but doing research definitely helps. Take your time to make decisions, then wait to see if you still think it’s the best decision.”
