Second Place Modified Car of the Year – Ford Fiesta ST180

We caught up with our customer Sean, who owns an incredible Ford Fiesta ST180. So incredible, it placed second in our modified car of the year competition in 2021!

The Ford Fiesta ST is a popular choice for a lot of drivers in the UK and our customer Sean has kindly shared with us why he was so captivated by the ST180.

We asked Sean how he ended up with his Fiesta, and he told us he never wanted to purchase a Fiesta ST180 as he didn’t understand the hype it has! Sean’s view on Fiesta ST180 was forever changed when he took one for a test drive. ‘I never really understood why the ST180 was so popular until I test drove a completely standard model. It immediately hit me when I drove it that I needed this car! Test driving the ST180 reminded Sean of some of his earlier cars, such as his CRX, Series 2 RS Turbo, and Mk2 Golf GTi.

Sean likes to show off his stunning car by taking it to the Show and Shine Competition. He has been competing in this since he’s owned his Fiesta, and has amassed quite a few trophies in the past four years!

Sean’s Story

Sean’s love of cars stemmed from the heavy influence he had from his dad growing up, who was also a car fanatic like himself.

His love for cars grew in the late 90s and early 2000s, as he loved the cars that were being built around this time. His admiration for these classics cars has played a huge role in him being part of the modifying world!

Sean runs two clubs, which he shares his modifying and detailing passions with! ‘One is my local club called Scene which caters to the areas modified and classic cars. The other is Detailing Central which focuses on all things car cleaning! Plenty to keep me busy when I’m not out and about in my car!’

Sean told us how his car has given him the chance to express himself ‘Going out and spending an hour (or maybe 12 hours!) fitting your latest purchase, or even cleaning it, allows me to forget about the real-world stresses of life. Best and most expensive distraction ever!’

Sean tries to modify his car with little to no assistance. He told us ‘It aids in learning and the sense of pride looking back at it and being able to go “I done that”.

Sean’s Future Plans for his Ford Fiesta ST180

The modifications will not end here! Sean wants to continue modifying this impressive motor! ‘Is a car ever really complete? This is never going to be finished as I will be constantly evolving and changing things up on it!’ Sean told us he may give his Fiesta a few new tweaks to improve the power

Sean also explained what he has planned for the Fiesta in the future ‘Long term, it’ll be undergoing a full bare shell rebuild with plenty of unique and one-off touches but that is a little way off yet.’ We look forward to seeing what Sean does next!
