The legendary Marque of Porsche (Porsche AG), what more really needs to be said? Founded on the 25th April 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, Porsche is an absolute gem in the history of all car Marques - a beauty of it's kind.

The Marque has well and truly stood the test of time - this year, Porsche turns 84!

Porsche

Since the marques creation in 1931, Porsche has seen many cars designed, built and put into production. It's also seen cars built for special order only and others designed to fit the needs and requirements of the consumer.

There are many models to highlight when it comes to Porsche. Some of which include:

  • Boxster
  • Cayman
  • 911 Carrera
  • 911 Targa
  • 911 Turbo (including the S exclusive GB edition)
  • 911 GT3 (and the make of the outstanding GT3 RS)
  • 918 Spyder (two versions created of which are both hybrid)
  • Panamera
  • Macan
  • Cayenne (including the Turbo and GTS)

Porsche has had a long term affiliation with the Volkswagen marque, now referred to as Volkswagen AG. Ferdinand Porsche actually designed the first ever Volkswagen Beetle. The two marques then formed a further alliance by creating the Volkswagen Porsche 914 and the 914-6. Both vehicles had different engines, the 914 had a Volkswagen engine installed whereas the 914-6 had a Porsche engine installed.

Today, Porsche AG is actually owned by Volkswagen AG however the majority of Volkswagen AG is actually owned by Porsche Automobil Holding SE.

Insurance Groups For Porsche Cars

For Porsche Insurance, you will often benefit by using a specialist Insurer. They normally have negotiated a 'scheme' rate with a selection of Underwriters and this means the prices are much lower than standard insurers. Insurance groups vary dependent on a number of factors. Some of the factors include: car performance, damage costs, parts costs, repair costs, repair times, car security and car safety.

A car is classified with a number between 1-50 dependent on all the relevant factors and this will then reflect the price of insurance. The higher the number can usually reflect a higher price of insurance.
