In this customer car blog, Richard describes why he chose his beautiful Hyundai Veloster Turbo SE and describes its unique features that hooked him.

Hyundai Veloster Turbo SE

Richard has had his Hyundai Veloster since 2018 and he told us why he decided to purchase this beauty ‘I got it as it was something different, practical and fun!’

In light of the uniqueness of Richard’s Hyundai Veloster Richard told us ‘you can’t really go to one place for a niche car, you just have to go to the experts.’ A specialist car like this deserves 5-star treatment!

As Richard told us, he is planning on keeping this car for some time to come. We’re delighted to hear this and we are excited to see what he does next with it!

Since Richard purchased this Veloster he has made a few changes to it ‘it now has an Android auto wireless head unit and a lightweight flywheel/stronger clutch.’ In addition, Richard plans to install a new wastegate spring on this Hyundai Veloster once the final tuning is complete.

This Veloster Turbo SE has received extensive and impressive work. Richard has kindly shared with us this long list of modifications.

Inside:

Re-wrapped steering wheel with Nappa leather
Updated 2016 instrument cluster
Wireless android auto/apple car play 9 inch head unit supporting inbuilt climate control display, controls and reversing camera.

Outside/chassis:

Tinted rear windows
Front strut brace
Rear sway bar
225 r40 18 inch Tyre’s (up from 215)

Engine:

Engine rebuild
Bored out 77.5mm
Forged pistons
Rods with bimetal main bearings
Ported out side exhaust
HKS M45XL spark plugs are fitted.
Sport cat downpipe with Borla touring exhaust
845 front mount intercooler
GFB blow off valve with volume control
K & N short ram intake
Front & Rear engine mounts replaced with poly bushing
Aluminium flywheel
Higher strength clutch

More about Richard

Before buying this Turbo SE, Richard had a Hyundai 1.0 i20 Turbo Edition. He was eager to get more power on this car and once he remapped it he was officially hooked! As soon as he remapped the car, it sped up to 125 horsepower!

Richard has since made improving his cars a hobby and has enjoyed it immensely. We asked him what his dream car would be ‘My attainable dream car it would be fun to have a go in the GR Yaris, but the new Ferrari 296 GTB looks like a great car if we ignore the budget.’

Like many, Richard likes to attend car meets and told us he often likes to attend car events such as Dyno Day.

Facebook communities are a great way for like-minded car fanatics to come together and talk and share all things car related! Richard is a part of a community on Facebook for Veloster owners in the UK as well as his local car group too!
