The Vauxhall VXR8 is a performance car that has the hearts of thrill seekers in the palm of its grip. Not only does it cater to all your performance related requirements with its meaty 6.2litre engine, but it also doesn’t offend your bank manager as much as its competitors, such as the Mercedes C63 AMG or the BMW M5.

For years the VXR8 has been at the foreground when it comes to affordable performance. Not only has its creators decided to provide you with a more enhanced driving performance, but they have also managed to give you that performance at a much reduced rate to its predecessors and rivals.

Let’s discuss this in more detail…

Performance Cars: The Vauxhall VXR8

Produced from 2011-2013 the VXR8 could be bought for just over £45,000.

There were a few model versions created and produced. A popular version in particular was the Vauxhall VXR8 (Clubsport) which has a massive 6.2 litre, v8 engine which gives out an impressive 424 bhp. It can get from 0-60 mph in just 4.9 seconds and has a top speed of 155 mph. It comes with a 6 speed manual gearbox, although you do have the option to go automatic, which is said to not have any rigid restrictions / downfalls on performance.

If you’re looking for a car for long journeys, this won’t be your best option, although 20mpg (some may argue) isn’t too bad for a performance car of this calibre? Whilst on the topic of costs however, though the initial price may be relatively cheap for the level of performance you get, the costs will add up elsewhere. The road tax is over £500 for 12 months and you can expect to change those large rear tyres fairly frequently!

The design of the car isn’t the most fancy however it looks fairly robust and like a car you wouldn’t want to mess with, should you find yourself side by side with it on the start line. Now although there’s no official NCAP safety rating applied to the car, it does come as standard with 6 airbags. You can assure yourselves that a car with as much power as this will be readily and safely equipped to be able to protect its passengers to the best of its ability, should it need to.

Insurance for a Vauxhall VXR8

As you’ve probably already guessed, the insurance for this one isn’t going to come cheap. It’s categorised as insurance group rating 50 – ouch! Yes, its the highest group rating but it is to be expected, and besides, it’s totally worth it, right?

With a car like this you’ll want to look into taking out a Performance Car Insurance or Modified Car Insurance policy as opposed to a standard car insurance policy. Especially if you are looking to modify or have work done on the car. Don’t miss out on those valuable pounds should you need to make a claim, the right policy ensures your car is valued at the right price!
