Deliveries for the 2016 Audi TT RS are expected to start in September and we simply cannot wait. Not only has the arrival of the new TT RS been long awaited, it’s also had the hearts of many Audi fans beating faster with every picture released. The car is an impressive piece of kit and not only holds all the power under the bonnet, but it looks the part too.

Performance Cars: Audi TT RS Coupé

The 2016 model is notably different from its predecessor. For one, it’s made out of a lightweight aluminium, as opposed to cast iron. This is a huge win when referring to the power to weight ratio. The specifications of the 2016 model are just as beautiful…

The new Audi TT RS has a 2.5 litre, turbocharged engine which gives out a whopping 395bhp. It has a top speed of 155mph, although this is the restricted speed. An unrestricted TT RS can achieve a top speed of 174mph. It’s also got a 5-cylinder configuration and can go from 0-62mph in just 3.7 seconds. This speed is quicker than some of its high performance competitors, such as the Jaguar F-Type. This also means that it’s only a couple of tenths of a second slower than the almighty Audi R8 supercar.

More of its fabulous attributes include shift paddles behind the steering wheel, an internal launch control system and a 7 speed, dual-clutch gearbox (in automatic – only).

The car is all-wheel drive which makes it a brilliant car for the more disruptive weather conditions. It can provide good traction in the rain, wind, sleet, and snow, as well as in the summer months, of course.

The car comes with a ‘Drive Select System’ built-in and allows for the majority of the cars settings to be tailored to each driver’s specific requirements / preferences. These settings include things such as the steering and automatic gearbox.

Overall, the car is a fun-loving monster, ready to impress all those who have the pleasure of driving it. Be warned however – it’s not cheap to buy or to run. It’s reported that the Coupé will start at £51,697, although this figure is yet to be confirmed.

Insurance for an Audi TT RS Coupé

An exact insurance group rating is yet to be placed on the 2016 model however you can bet it will be in the late 40’s, if not 50. This will be due to the cost of the car, the expense to repair and the quality of the trimmings, materials used, and components. It’s also an incredibly quick car with a lot of power. The car would work well under a Performance Car Insurance policy.
