Nikki’s Nissan 350z is a 3.5 litre v6 power machine. It’s undergone some modification work and Nikki is extremely happy with the transformation that has taken place. Some of the modifications she’s added include: 20” deep dish alloys, an Ibherdesign Havoc Body Kit (standard version), a custom blue leather interior throughout, and Lambo Doors.

As Nikki is one of our customers, she was happy to talk with us on a more in-depth basis about her car, her passion for the car world, and what plans she has for the future.

Q&A: Nikki and her Nissan 350z

Nissan 350z

When did you first discover you had an interest in cars?

My family are all car mad. My grandad used to drive us home when we were little and stop at every newsagent to look at adverts for cars that were on sale. We also used to stop and look at car forecourts, so looking at cars became ingrained from an early age.

My Aunt owns an Escort Cosworth and my dad owns a number of cars including a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth, and a Ford Consul Classic 1961 (in concourse condition). I helped, as a child, to strip the parts from a donor Ford Consul to complete dad’s project and make the Consul roadworthy. So, I guess I have always been fiddling and messing about with cars.

The first sports car I bought was a Hyundai Coupe. It had been lowered and drove like it was on rails. I followed this with a Honda Prelude, and then finally both the NA and TT versions of the Toyota Supra. I instantly treated one of the Supras to a cat 1 alarm with Intellistart, Veilside body kit, rare black interior carpet, and custom logo leather seats, along will a full respray. I bought the Zed as my Supra replacement thinking it wouldn’t pass its MOT but it did and I have been unable to part with it ever since. So now I run both the Supra, and the Zed. I seem to collect cars as a habit – I blame my dad!

What was the first car you ever owned?

It was a Ford Fiesta, 1 litre, ‘H plate’. It was complete with ‘go faster’ green stripes and monkey bites on the spoiler (from going through the monkey enclosure at the Safari Park).

What garages do you use to perform the work on your car?

I use Woodhouse Brothers in Kidderminster to look after the mechanics. They are a trusted local garage that has experience with all levels of cars. The owner even races cars in his spare time.

I use Midland Hydrographics for my paint work and body modifications. They are another tried and tested local business that I have a great relationship with.

Do you have any plans to further modify your car?

I am looking to change the back spoiler to something that will balance out the front of the car. I’m looking at doing this by pulling out the back, so, maybe a Veilside V3 wing. I also want to Hydro-dip some of the interior trim to make it A1 and I will then look at the engine bay to make it a real head-turning show car.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to modify their car for the first time?

Join an owners’ forum and read up plenty. Start small and do what feels right to you. It is all about making the car yours. You have to remember that your personal choice will not always be liked by everybody else, but if you like it then it doesn’t matter.

If money was no option what car would you buy?

I have my eye on the concept car for the new Toyota Supra which is in the pipeline. But as that isn’t currently an option, I have always had a love of Lamborghini, from playing with Red Alert – the transformers Lamborghini Countach.

If money was no object I would buy a Lamborghini Centario, which does 0-62mph in 2.8seconds. It also has a carbon fibre body and looks amazing. I think it would be worth it – to indulge in your dream car (even if you couldn’t take it to Tesco’s).
