Aimee owns this beauty of a Nissan 350z. Not only is Aimee a major car enthusiast, but she also works with us here at Safely Insured. She’s worked here for a few years now, as a sales adviser, and certainly knows a thing or two when it comes to cars (and insurance, of course). She’s owned a few cars (4 to be exact) since she’s learnt to drive, and we are thrilled that she now owns the car she’s admired for a long time…

Every day, Aimee comes in and tells us about cars that she’s seen on the M25 or plans for further modification work on her own car. We thought it was only fair that we share her pride and joy with fellow car enthusiasts… especially as there are some more works planned for her Nissan 350z soon.

Q&A with Aimee…

For those of you who know Aimee, you’ll know she’s a bit of an adrenaline Junkie. She actually went to Las Vegas last year and jumped off The Stratosphere. She’s even done a skydive – something many of us would shy away from.

When she’s not jumping out of planes, Aimee fuels her passions by going to car shows / meets and socialising with other like-minded individuals. She’s always posting pictures of cool cars she’s spotted, or a fun meet she went to that day.

As a result, we asked Aimee some questions about her passion for cars. Here’s what she had to say…

What’s been your favourite car to drive, and why?

“The car which was the most fun, which would lead it to be the reason why it’s my favourite, would have to be my mk1 Leon Cupra R – purely because of how it handled (due to mods) and the power delivery. Also, the fact that it surprised a lot of people due to looking standard but being quite highly modified.”

What would be your dream car?

“There are two which I have never been able to decide between and they are very different. Either a 1969 Dodge Charger R/T or a R34 GTR.”

Do you use any garages to perform the work on your car?

“Yes, my go-to place for absolutely anything car related is, and always will be, EMP Performance. I have known the guys (and girl) there since I was younger, way before I started driving and they are the only people I really trust with my car.”

Check out the work they do by visiting their website.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to modify a car for the first time?

“You must make sure that you can get insured on it with the mods declared. Also, be sure to use reputable parts and / or a garage. As they say, if you pay cheap you’ll pay twice.”

What’s your favourite type of motorsport, and why?

“Tricky one, I never really used to watch any until I was with my boyfriend as he and his parents always watch it. I like MotoGP as the racing is slightly more entertaining. But I do like watching the F1 of course. But other than that, I do have to mention drifting. Drifting is fun, good to watch, and has such different and interesting cars. A lot of my friends are in the drifting scene, and of course, I am always one to support my friends.”

Insurance for a modified Nissan 350z

Modified Car Insurance differs when compared to standard car insurance. It’s a specialist type of insurance and requires knowledge of the technicalities of car modifications, as well as the specifications of parts.

Here at Safely Insured, we have a dedicated team of experts who are specialists in the modified and performance car insurance sectors. Many of them are even car enthusiasts themselves, just like Aimee.

One of the most common questions we get asked is, what classes as a modification? Well, a modification can be something as little as adding alloy wheels or a spoiler, or they can be something as extravagant a turbo conversion. Basically, a modification is anything that has been altered on the car, from factory standard.

The Safely Insured ‘Modified Car Insurance’ policy is great for car enthusiasts. Not only can you get limited mileage discounts and second car discounts, we also offer ‘Agreed Valuations’ cover and ‘Like-for-like’ modifications cover. These types of cover ensure that your pride and joy is protected to its actual value, according to the parts you have on it.
