The Honda Civic Type R is an extremely popular car within the car enthusiast community. This might have a little something to do with the fact that it’s the highest performance version of the ‘Honda Civic’!

Production of the Type R started back in 2007. Since then, the car has gone from strength-to-strength in every release of a new version. It’s also remained a popular choice amongst car owners. Not only do people like the styling of the car, including the red badges, the power of the car is pretty impressive too!

How do we know this? The most popular ‘modified car’ that we put on cover in July 2018 was, of course, the Honda Civic Type R…

Honda Civic Type R

This is the type of car you can take to the shops to pick up some essentials, whilst on your way to a track to really push it to its limits. It looks incredibly robust and like it was born for the track, but it also works just as well for popping to the supermarket because you forgot the milk!

It’s reliable, robust, comfortable, and has good handling. In addition, it’s fierce, quick, and ready for you to put it through its paces. You want smooth and controlled? Fine, the Type R can do that. You want a track-ready power machine? Sure, it can be that car too.

We really think this car can offer its owner the best of both worlds. If you’re a car enthusiast who wants a ‘daily driver’ and a track car – why buy two cars when you can buy the Type R?

Now, although the Type R is the high-performance model of the standard ‘Honda Civic’, there’s many different versions within many generations of the Type R.

• Third generation – FD2/FN2 (2006-2011)
• Fourth generation – FK2 (2015-2017)
• Fifth generation – FK8 (2017-present)
